The swinging 1960s was an era of change and musical
exploration, and all the equipment produced in this period had to be cutting
edge to keep up with so many directions in music - from the The Four Seasons
to Cream with Eric Clapton.
So the 1963 Fender Stratocaster had to have that ‘twang’ for
Hank Marvin, the power and sreaming feedback sustain for Jimi Hendrix.
The invention of the 1966 Marshall JTM45 head with a massive Marshall
4 x 12 speacker cabinet provided the high power plus edge needed for the likes
of Otis Reading to Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac.
For the bass guitarist the Fender
Precision bass was used by John Entwhistle
of the Who to the Beach Boys, the 1964 Selmer treble and
bass 50 head with the 1 x 18 Goliath speaker cabinet was a must for
the bass player of the Yardbirds and the Animals, and the 1963 Ludwig
Black Oyster drum kit was used by Ringo
Star in the Beatles and Keith Moon of the Who.
